In Orlando Apartment Fire Two Firefighters Were Injured

On Wednesday morning, two firefighters were injured while battling a large fire at an Orlando apartment complex, said officials.

According to Orlando Fire District Chief Mike Stallings Jr., the fire engulfed all three floors of the building, but none of the 61 residents was injured.

The blaze was extinguished with fire fighting equipment about 40 minutes after it started.

One firefighter, who has been with the department for 23 years, suffered burns and was taken to a hospital. Stallings said she was injured in a smoke explosion.

Another firefighter, who has been with the department for five years, suffered a neck injury when debris fell from the building, Stallings said. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center but also is expected to be OK.

Arson investigators determined the fire was accidental, but the cause is not known.
