Explosion damages UPS freight hub in Kentucky

A UPS freight hub was brutally damaged due to an explosion of a truck and trailer with an acetylene tank on Wednesday morning in Kentucky's second-largest city.

Although the cause of the explosion was not yet known, it was declared that the blast wasn't suspicious.

The facility had been evacuated under Area Protection and everyone was accounted for, fire officials said.

Eight people were sent for medical attention and two, who suffered from burns and possible shocks, were hospitalized while six others were kept under medical observation.

Lexington fire department spokeswoman Jessica Bowman said the building's structural stability was being analyzed as a part of an attempt to determine the whereabouts of the explosion.

The blast was so intense that it was also felt inside other buildings.
