Wildfires force evacuations in heat-stricken Colorado

Bone-dry conditions and scorching temperatures hampered firefighters Thursday as they battled wildfires in Colorado. The fire east of Fort Garland — about 160 miles south of Denver has blackened about 5 square miles and has destroyed some structures.

But fire managers found it hard using extinguishers as there were propane tanks everywhere.

It was like a fog of smoke by the houses as what people felt. This has led to the evacuation of about 350 primary and vacation homes in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

The wildfire also caused other structural destruction. Efforts for the containment are still going on.
