Texas city purchase the GTT Opticom Emergency Preemption
Light Control system for clearing the way for fire trucks and ambulances to
decrease response time.
KSAT reported that the city of Leon Valley equipped 17
emergency vehicles with the GTT Opticom Emergency Preemption Light Control
system, which can turn any traffic light green to clear the way for first
responders.
Texas paid $68000 but will be able to use the devices free
of charge on trial basis.
Luis Valdez, the Leon Valley Fire Chief said we have been
very fortunate in the past as we had a lot of close calls, where we’ve almost
been hit. He also added, first responders, are very happy with the system.
