5 ambulances were destroyed by fire in New Jersey
Fire broke out at the American
Legion Ambulance Association, in Woodstown on Monday around 4 a.m.
and was extinguished about two hours later.
The fast-moving fire gutted ambulance squad’s building and destroyed
five ambulances. The incident caused around $2 million in overall damage.
According to officials, flames spread quickly due to the explosion of oxygen
tanks inside the ambulances after the beginning of fire.
During the fire, four squad members were on duty inside the
building but rescued safely. According to authorities, one of the workers
smelled smoke and alerted co-workers to leave the building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
