3 Women killed and 11 injured in Tennessee blaze

According to Tennessee officials, on Wednesday 14 February 2018, a fire broke out at a home housing. They said the home had no working smoke alarms or fire sprinklers.

12 adults and a child were living in the house. The Nashville Fire Department confirmed the deaths of 3 women and 11 injured. Police identified those who died as Kathleen Baird, 22; Tammy Nelson, 36; and Elizabeth Lopez, 35.

Around 5:30 a.m. firefighters were called to the home, they arrived on the spot to see flames coming from the structure, said officials.

Firefighters rescued everyone from the home, but three later died. Including a boy, four others were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. A firefighter also received a minor burn and was treated at the hospital.

According to Joseph Pleasant, the fire department spokesman, the home was owned by Footprints to Recovery, which help people recover from drug and alcohol addiction. No one immediately responded to a message left with the organization's program director.

The cause is under investigation. A photo posted on the fire department's account shows a one-story brick house with a hole in the roof.
