Missing Hydrants to be blamed for delayed fire suppression

It was a strange fire accident that took place in a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort where a lime-green Dodge Charger was on fire. The blaze was spreading to other vehicles in the Magic Kingdom parking lot as concerned passers-by called the fire emergency helpline. The Reedy Creek firefighters arrived with their Emergency and Safety Products, but found that the nearest fire hydrant, once located within 500 feet, was no more present. In fact, the dispatcher insisted it was there, said Tim Stromsnes, president of the Reedy Creek Firefighters Association.

The hydrant was about 2,000 feet away, but due to the absence of hydrant; the firefighters’ hoses only reached half that far. And since the 1,500-gallon tanker truck was sent back to the manufacturer for repairs, it wasn’t available. However, the hydrants still appeared on the dispatcher’s map informed Stromsnes. It is worth mentioning that the hydrants were removed after a driving instructor’s death.
